Calling = Knowledge, Need, and Ability

I just had lunch with Claude Hickman, a friend a fellow mobilizer of college students. Claude’s such an encouraging guy, really fun to be with. He has a fantastic book titled, Live Life on Purpose. In it he addresses calling in a way that really compels me, “This is why you are a Christian today. The journey wasn’t created for you; you were created and redeemed for the journey. God had a bigger purpose in mind in saving you than just rescuing you from Hell. He saved you to use you in His purpose in the journey from the beginning.”

God created you and has a purpose in mind for you. How cool is that? Do you really believe this? It’s true- and the journey God created you for includes relaying your salvation.  Earlier Hickman says, “Christianity is about receiving grace and apostleship. Grace has to do with our salvation; apostleship has to do with the worlds. Salvation is not something to be received, but relayed.”

I have great examples around me of folks who are living their journey in a way that is relaying their salvation. Let me introduce them and ask you to pray for them.

Danae is a recent graduate of UC Santa Barbara and heading to The Middle East, the 10/40 Window, to share the reality of Jesus with students. She will be there for a year living out her purpose of sharing the good news.

Here is Sean and Amanda Mervich. Sean and Amanda have been on Stint for the past year in East Asia.

They have worked hard and sacrificed to help students, future leaders in this country, understand how they can know the God that created them. Sean and Amanda just returned home for  a few months to visit family, raise their financial support, and rest up before another year in East Asia.

Would you take just a minute right now and please pray for Danae and the Mervich’s?
