Complete Surrender

My previous advisor and mentor David Timms writes, “Radical Christianity is the complete and utter surrender of our own will to the will of God.”

Do you know people who live like this? Any friends come to mind? I have a few, allow me to introduce them. Meet the Waidley’s. Yes, all four of them. John and Faye (on the ends) have been leading leaders for decades (they look very young!). John and Faye have given their lives and careers to helping people understand Jesus. I have had the privilege of working with them very closely, and I am so glad to know them as they model complete surrender.

In between them are Josh and Alex.

A whole bunch of Waidley's. Josh and Alex work with us in San Francisco helping young people understand the reality of Jesus in a difficult place. I love hearing how God continues to use them.

Josh and Alex just left with their team to Paris on an international summer mission project (you can follow them at http://thesanfranciscocall.com/). They are off to help Muslim students understand what it means to have a personal relationship with the God that created them. Complete surrender.

Meet the Otto’s. Josh and Kelly lead our team at Chico State University. Right now they are leading a team of 10 to a small campus of 150,000 students in The Dominican Republic.

The Otto's just landed in Santo Domingo. Please pray for them with me.

They volunteered to lead this team and take their family for 6 weeks so students can hear about Jesus. They model complete surrender.

Last person who models this idea to me: Meet Brian from UC Santa Barbara.

Right on Brian- lots of people praying for you buddy.

Brian is graduating and headed to the 10/40 Window for a year to be a missionary. Brian is such an answer to prayer as he and a team go  to a very challenging part of the world to share Jesus with people who have never heard. How cool is it that I get to work people like this?!

Dr Timms asks, “What constitutes radical Christianity? The genuinely, constantly, and deeply yielded heart that is shaped by time in His presence and by service to His leading.”

Thanks to the Waidleys, the Otto’s, and Brian for their yielded hearts and service to God’s leading. I love what you are all doing this summer, and I love that your hearts are always being led by God. Please know that I, and many others, are praying for you.

Here’s to following Jesus and leading others to Him….

–Dr. David Timms wrote Sacred Waiting, the book I have quoted several times. It’s definitely worth a read, go to his blog at http://davidtimms.wordpress.com/
