Living it Out

I’m reading another solid book, Viral, by Dr. Leonard Sweet. “The Christian Life is neither Christian nor any kind of life unless we are living out our faith.” This is the first sentence in the book, go get it. I won’t tell you more as I want you to read it. 

Recently I have had some compelling examples of those who live out their faith–and they live it out in a way that motivates me like nothing else.

Meet Troy and Jon. These are both very good friends of mine.

I met Troy when he was a sophomore in college. That year God got a hold of Troy and began to transform his life. Almost 20 years later Troy continues to lead as the executive pastor of Calvary Chapel Santa Barbara. God has used this church, and Troy’s leadership, to impact so many lives.

Troy begin to disciple Jon as a student. Jon now works as an associate national director in our organization. The impact these men have made, and continue to make, would take days and days of blogging. But the main point I’m trying to make is they model the Christian Life that is quoted above, they are living out their faith.

Meet Esther and Jane.

These young women are heading to a country this summer that is 87% Muslim.

Their purpose in going? To take the reality of Jesus to university students–the future leaders of this country. My family and I just received a support letter from them for their trip, we definitely plan to support them in our prayers and finances as they share their faith in a country where people rarely, if ever, hear about Jesus.

I find myself, as I read Viral, evaluating my relationships and how I am living out my faith. Fortunately, I have some great examples to follow. Thanks to Troy, Jon, Esther, and Jane!
